Legendary raids
Every two hours a legendary Pokémon takes over a gym for 40 minutes. Raids open once you have 4 badges.
- A raid costs 20 stamina and has 5 slots.
- The boss has many times its normal health and comes with an escort from the gym.
- A win always drops a Pokémon: one of the escort, or once in a while the legendary itself.
The legendaries take turns, in this order:
| Legendary | Gym it takes over | Level | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Articuno | Cerulean Gym | 90 | |
| Zapdos | Vermilion Gym | 100 | |
| Moltres | Cinnabar Gym | 45 | |
| Raikou | Vermilion Gym | 100 | |
| Entei | Cinnabar Gym | 55 | |
| Suicune | Cerulean Gym | 100 | |
| Mewtwo | Viridian Gym | 50 | |
| Lugia | Cerulean Gym | 60 | |
| Ho-oh | Cinnabar Gym | 55 | |
| Reshiram | Opelucid Gym (Drayden) | 50 |
Fighting together
All trainers share one health pool for the raid's boss. Every raid you fight hits the pool with the damage you dealt, even when you lose. The trainer whose attack empties it clears the raid for everyone who helped: each gets a letter with gold and a ribbon, and a chance at the legendary itself, better for those who dealt more damage.
Mega Raids
An hour after every other legendary raid, a Mega Raid opens: a Mega Evolution fought on a gym of its type. Six a day cycle through all the Megas; the raid row says which comes next.
A Mega Raid win drops a Pokémon, and sometimes its Mega Stone: as rarely as that species turns up shiny, and never one you already have. See Held items.
Events can bring their own raid boss: see Events.
