Levels
Pokémon gain experience in battle (shared by the team you brought), from Exp. Candies and Rare Candies, and at the daycare. Each level makes every stat stronger.
A Pokémon can't pass its level cap, which its stars set:
| Rank | Level cap |
|---|---|
| No stars | 40 |
| ★ | 50 |
| ★★ | 60 |
| ★★★ | 70 |
| ★★★★ | 85 |
| ★★★★★ | 100 |
| ☾1 | 200 |
| ☾2 | 300 |
| ☾3 | 400 |
| ☾4 | 500 |
| ☾5 | 600 |
| ☾6 | 700 |
| ☾7 | 800 |
| ☾8 | 900 |
| ☾9 | 999 |
Past level 100, each level still makes a Pokémon stronger, a little less than the first hundred. See the Nightmare World.
Stars
Raise a Pokémon's stars once it reaches its level cap, by giving up copies of its evolution family (any Pokémon of the same line) and some gold:
| To reach | Copies of its family | Copies at least | Gold |
|---|---|---|---|
| ★ | 1 | Common | 1,000 |
| ★★ | 2 | Common | 4,000 |
| ★★★ | 2 | Uncommon | 12,000 |
| ★★★★ | 3 | Rare | 30,000 |
| ★★★★★ | 3 | Epic | 80,000 |
A Mystic Star raises a star without copies or gold (the Pokémon must be at its cap). After 5 stars, a Pokémon goes on with Nightmare ranks.
Genes
Every Pokémon has five genes, from 1 to 20: Hitpoints, Attack, Ability Power, Armor and Magic Resist. Each one sets how much of that stat it gets. Together they decide the colour of its frame:
| Genes (all five, out of 100%) | Frame |
|---|---|
| 80% and up | Legendary |
| 70% and up | Epic |
| 60% and up | Rare |
| 50% and up | Uncommon |
| 0% and up | Common |
Two copies of the same species can be very different. To improve genes:
- Vitamins (HP Up, Protein, Iron, Calcium, Zinc, Carbos) add one point to a gene, up to 20.
- A Bottle Cap rerolls all five genes: a gamble.
- A Gold Bottle Cap rerolls one gene you choose, and it never gets worse.
Species rarity
Each species also has a rarity, from Common to Legendary, shown on its page. Rarer species are stronger, drop less often and have rarer shinies.
