Choose one species to hunt: one you've owned, or met on a map you've beaten. While it's your focus:
- when a won battle drops a Pokémon, it is much likelier to be that species;
- each won battle that defeats it gives you a little stardust.
Hunting doesn't change how often Pokémon drop, only which one. It works best on your own team's family.
Hunt levels
Defeating your focus species raises its hunt level, which you keep even when you switch:
| Hunt level | Defeated while hunting | Drops of it |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | From the start | ×2 |
| 2 | 100 | ×2.5 |
| 3 | 500 | ×3 |
| 4 | 1,000 | ×3.5 |
Shiny chains
Win battles against your focus in a row and the chain makes its shiny likelier: twice as likely at 10, four times at 30. Any other map battle breaks the chain. See Shinies.
Changing your focus
Your first focus is free, and so is one change every 20 hours. Changing sooner costs gold, more at higher trainer levels.
